Abstract:

In the past 10 years, Thales Alenia Space has developed the three majors commercial constellations : Globastar2, O3b and Iridium NEXT representing 125 spacecraft on LEO and MEO orbits. Each development has required avionics and AOCS enhancement in order to meet the objectives of recurrent cost, radiation environment and in flight autonomy. The first batch of Iridium NEXT satellites has be launched in early January 2017. In the first part, the presentation will review the AOCS design and upgrades applied for the Iridium® constellation. In the second part, we will present the inflight results.
