Abstract:

SAGEM DS started the development of HRG Gyros in the 90’s for defence applications. Improvement of the architecture allowed to meet the Space requirements while providing a substantial cost reduction with respect to existing HRG gyros. The REGYS20 development started in 2006 in the frame of Alphabus program, and today we can considered the product as mature. 20 units have been delivered among which 16 for TAS-F, 2 for ASTRIUM and another 2 for an overseas customer. 10 units are currently in flight and working flawlessly. This paper provides several lessons learnt concerning :

Development phase, which was longer than expected due to several non-compliances observed at core sensor level or at electronic level.

Industrial phase, during which we have observed un-expected functional or performance behaviours, and that have led to update manufacturing process and additional acceptance tests.
