Abstract:

This paper deals with the design and validation of a robust model-based FDI technique for the thruster fault diagnosis of flexible satellites during Chemical Station Keeping manoeuvres. The goal of this study is to evaluate the ability of model-based FDI techniques to detect thruster malfunctions/degradation and highlight their benefits in terms of fault coverage, fault detection reactivity as regards to classical threshold-based FDI strategies. The model-based FDI technique which is presented in this document is formulated and managed in the H? setting and consists in designing a bank of dynamical filters being sensitive to thruster faults while guaranteeing robustness properties, in the H?-norm sense, against exogenous disturbances and plant uncertainties/modifications (e.g., inertia, mass, damping, cantilever frequencies, solar arrays rotationÂ…).
