Towards a Scalable Technology for Albedo Insensitive Sun Sensors in Silicon Carbide
In this work we present a novel approach towards albedo insensitive sun position sensors, by means of a scalable technology in silicon carbide. The proposed technology incorporates the 3D integration of the sensor optics on wafer level, facilitating further sensor miniaturization, fabrication cost reduction and mitigation of device calibration. The state-of-the-art of silicon carbide integrated circuit technologies is provided, showing a readiness level that is necessary for integrated UV photodetectors and readout electronics. A radiometry estimation is included to compare the proposed technology to similar silicon based implementations.
